Carey Ballew
Assistant Fire Chief

Assistant Chief Ballew has over 30 years experience in the Fire Service. He has been an Instructor for the SC Fire Academy since 1997. Chief Ballew has served PBFD for nine years and is currently responsible for Fire Department Operations and Training.

He previously served as the Assistant Director of the Spartanburg County Emergency Services Academy. Chief Ballew has completed the Fire and Rescue Management Institute at UNC Charlotte and has earned a degree in Fire Science Technology

Vivian Lindsey
Administrative Assistant


Vivian Lindsey is the Administrative Assistant for Pelham Batesville Fire Department since January 2005.  She is proficient in Microsoft Office and QuickBooks. Before she came to work at Pelham Batesville, Vivian was the Financial Controller for Greer Community Ministries for ten years. 

Vivian Lindsey received an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Optometric Technology with Greenville Technical College in 1976. 

Vivian Lindsey received the Pelham Batesville Fire Department Chief’s Award for Service at the 2006 Annual Award Banquet.

She enjoys spending her time with her husband, Rick and their four-legged baby, Sophie.  She also enjoys reading and having loads of fun with all her 7 siblings and their families along with her many Aunts.
